----- HISTORY OF FOUNDATION -----
PATOMED Pathology and Cytology Laboratory has been founded in Istanbul, Turkey in 1997 by Dr. Onat Akin who had his pathology residency training in the United States of America and after completing a fellowship in a Cornell University program in New York, USA , came to Istanbul to establish a state-of-the-art pathology laboratory. ------LABORATORY OPERATION------
PATOMED is located in the center of the city within close range of large hospitals and doctors' offices.The laboratory recieves surgical and cytological specimens from these institutions via its motorized and pedestrian courriers as well as from walk-in patients. The reports for most cases are generated the next business day and signed out by the pathologists and delivered via the courriers of the lab, fax and e-mail.
PATOMED Laboratory has integrated detailed procedure manuals in its technical operation and uses unique secretarial, technical and courrier log-in systems and documentation. The Laboratory employs fully trained and certified personnel including histotechnicians, medical secretaries and courriers. Working hours are from 9.00 - 19.30 Monday through Friday and 9.00 - 17.00 on Saturdays.
PATOMED has been widening its service area to the surrounding regions of the city, and also receives specimens from out of city institutions via professional carriers. Today, with a growing demand and recognition, PATOMED Laboratory is operating for the best of its patients. Since establishment more than one hundred thousand specimens have been submitted and examined.
By these means, PATOMED LABORATORY puts forward its mission to serve with accuracy, timeliness and reliability and to continue as an example of a modern day world class pathology laboratory in Turkey.
